Smarter recording for your home or business CCTV system
The HiLook by Hikvision DVR-204U-M1-T (manufacturer model DVR-204U-M1/T) is a compact four-channel AcuSense Turbo HD recorder for customers who want clearer incident review, more useful motion alerts and flexible camera compatibility. It suits homes, retail stores, offices and workshops with up to four wired analogue camera positions.
Updating a recorder can be a practical way to refresh an existing coaxial CCTV installation. Where your cameras, power supplies and cabling are compatible, you can retain those components and put your budget towards improved recording and everyday monitoring. Nepean Micro Computers in Penrith can help check the combination before you purchase.
Reasons to choose this recorder
- Focus on people and vehicles: AcuSense Motion Detection 2.0 uses deep learning to classify targets on all analogue channels, helping reduce nuisance events from irrelevant movement.
- Detailed recording: supports 5MP and 3K encoding at up to 12fps, with one-channel 8MP encoding at up to 8fps. Select resolution and frame rate to suit the activity you need to capture.
- Flexible camera formats: adaptive support for HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI, traditional CVBS and IP makes this a useful option for mixed or upgraded installations.
- Efficient storage use: H.265 Pro+ compression helps reduce recording data requirements, making better use of your chosen hard drive.
- Convenient review: smart search and four-channel synchronous playback help you review related activity across camera views.
- Remote monitoring: HiLookVision supports access away from the premises after network setup, so you can check your property from a compatible device.
- 3-year warranty: supplied with the warranty period specified for this NMC listing.

Buying advice: get the right recorder for your cameras
Check the camera signal first. A BNC connector alone does not establish compatibility: confirm each camera's video format, resolution and output mode. This recorder is especially useful for a four-camera coaxial installation where you want to keep suitable existing cable runs.
Choose storage around your recording needs. Add a surveillance-rated SATA hard drive before commissioning. Retention varies with camera count, resolution, bitrate, frame rate and continuous or event recording; a larger drive gives more room for footage at the same settings.
Allow for camera power. This DVR has no PoE ports. Analogue cameras need suitable separate power, while IP cameras require their own power supply or compatible PoE equipment. Cameras, hard drive, monitor and cabling are separate purchases.
Match detail to movement. Higher-resolution recording can help with scene detail, while higher frame rates may better suit moving subjects. The HDMI/VGA display output is Full HD even when the recorder handles higher-resolution camera footage. Audio and two-way talk require compatible camera hardware.
For a new installation, map out entrances, counters, gates and access paths before choosing cameras. If you expect more than four analogue camera positions, consider a recorder with additional BNC inputs. Ask NMC for help selecting compatible cameras, storage and accessories.
