Hikvision ColorVu 3.0 – Better Security After Dark

Traditional CCTV cameras often switch to black-and-white infrared recording when lighting levels become low.

Hikvision ColorVu 3.0 technology is designed to deliver improved colour imaging in low-light conditions, helping users capture more useful information during night-time surveillance.

Colour footage can make it easier to distinguish details such as clothing colours, vehicle colours and objects that may be difficult to identify in conventional black-and-white recordings.

The DS-2CD2187G3-LIS2UY combines a large F1.0 aperture with advanced HikAI-ISP image processing to optimise available light and improve image clarity.

Benefits of ColorVu 3.0 include:

• Improved colour reproduction in low-light environments.

• Enhanced image clarity with reduced digital noise.

• More useful visual information for reviewing security incidents.

• Improved surveillance of entrances, driveways and outdoor areas.

• Flexible night-time operation using Smart Hybrid Light technology.

Colour recording performance depends on available lighting, camera settings and installation conditions.

Smart Hybrid Light – Flexible Night Vision Up to 30 Metres

The integrated Smart Hybrid Light system provides flexible illumination for different night-time surveillance requirements.

Depending on camera configuration and supported detection settings, the camera can operate using infrared illumination, white-light illumination or a smart lighting mode.

Infrared Mode: Provides discreet black-and-white night-time recording without continuous visible white lighting.

White Light Mode: Uses supplementary visible lighting to help capture colour images in dark environments.

Smart Mode: Can automatically change illumination behaviour in response to supported detection events and configured settings.

This makes the camera suitable for residential driveways, shop entrances, business premises, warehouses and other locations requiring reliable overnight surveillance.

The maximum supplementary illumination distance is approximately 30 metres. Actual useful recording and identification distances depend on the environment.

8MP 4K Ultra HD – Capture More Detail

With a maximum resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels, this Hikvision camera provides approximately four times the pixel count of a standard 1080p Full HD security camera.

Higher-resolution recording can help provide more image detail when reviewing CCTV footage, particularly when zooming into recorded video.

This makes the camera an excellent choice for:

• Residential home security.

• Driveway and front entrance surveillance.

• Retail stores and shopping areas.

• Offices and reception areas.

• Warehouses and commercial premises.

• Building entrances and shared access areas.

• Workshops, factories and storage facilities.

The fixed 2.8mm lens provides broad scene coverage, making it particularly suitable for general-purpose surveillance.

Built-in Dual Microphones – Video and Audio Recording

The DS-2CD2187G3-LIS2UY includes built-in dual microphones, allowing supported CCTV recording systems to capture audio together with video.

Audio recording can provide additional context when reviewing security incidents, customer interactions or activity around monitored areas.

When connected to a compatible Hikvision NVR, audio and video can be recorded together, subject to recorder compatibility and configuration.

Please note: This model provides audio capture through its built-in microphones. Two-way audio or speaker functionality should not be assumed. Audio recording must comply with applicable privacy and surveillance laws.

Intelligent Security Detection

The Hikvision ColorVu 3.0 range incorporates intelligent imaging and detection technology designed to improve surveillance effectiveness.

Depending on the camera firmware and enabled features, intelligent detection can help distinguish relevant activity from routine scene movement.

Potential benefits include:

• More targeted security event recording.

• Reduced unnecessary motion notifications.

• Improved monitoring of entrances and restricted areas.

• Easier review of relevant security footage.

• Integration with compatible Hikvision NVR event recording and notification functions.

Advanced detection features should be configured according to the installation environment and verified against the camera's supported specifications.

Weatherproof and Vandal-Resistant Construction

The Hikvision DS-2CD2187G3-LIS2UY is designed for reliable indoor and outdoor surveillance.

Its compact mini dome enclosure offers a discreet appearance while providing protection against challenging installation conditions.

IP67 Protection: Helps protect the camera against dust and water ingress.

IK10 Impact Resistance: Provides resistance against physical impact, making it suitable for exposed locations.

NEMA 4X Protection: Adds enclosure protection for demanding environmental applications.

The mini dome design is particularly useful for mounting under eaves, on ceilings, at entrances and in commercial areas where a compact, professional installation is preferred.
